Caulk has a working life. Sun exposure, freeze-thaw cycles, and the normal movement of a building slowly pull sealant away from the surface it was bonded to. Hairline separations open around windows, doors, siding joints, and trim. Most owners never notice them until something else goes wrong first. Water finds those openings before anyone else does. It travels behind cladding, soaks into sheathing, and shows up months later as a stain on interior drywall or a soft spot in a window sill. By that point the fix is no longer a tube of sealant - it is framing, insulation, and finish work. The rest of the damage is quieter. Conditioned air escapes through the same gaps, which pushes heating and cooling costs up through a GTA winter and again through summer. Insects and rodents treat unsealed penetrations as a door. Wood trim absorbs moisture and begins to rot from the back, where nobody is looking. Resealing is one of the least expensive preventive jobs on any property. Putting it off is one of the costliest.
