Sod Installation in Uxbridge

Sod is the easy part. Rolling green turf over compacted clay, an uncorrected slope, or a layer of old dead grass produces a lawn that looks perfect for three weeks and then goes patchy through its first real summer. The roots never made it into the soil because there was nothing down there worth rooting into. GTA properties come with their own particular problems. Heavy clay subsoil drains slowly and compacts hard under construction traffic. New builds are frequently left with a thin skim of topsoil over graded fill. Grades that push water toward the foundation instead of away from it are common, and sod will not fix that - it just hides it until the basement tells you. Then there is the timing. Sod laid on dry ground in the middle of July, or left sitting rolled on a pallet in the sun for two days before installation, starts dying before it is unrolled. Seams that are not butted tight open into brown lines within a month. None of this shows up in a photo taken the day the job finishes. It shows up the following season, when replacing the lawn costs the same as it did the first time.
